Edge Welded Bellows


Edge welded bellows are meaningful for flexibilizing of vacuum appliances. The edge welded bellows allows axial stroke by expanding its length. It allows movement of the adjacent parts, mainly in direction of the axis for easy assembly, for easy shifting and for easy disalignment. Actuators can be designed small.

Vacuum chambers must be leak proof. Nevertheless, inside is equipment which needs movements for it´s function. A flexible vacuum feedthrough is the solution. An edge welded bellows assembled on a bore through the chamber wall equipped with a flange enables you to move your equipment from inside to outside.

Examples:
  • Positioning of a sample inside the chamber.
  • A laser beam upon a tilt mechanism will find it´s target.
  • Shifting a sensor to exact distance
Welded bellows with ring Specially used in the research area, the edge welded bellows need very short length to do a movement. Most sizes can move so much as their original length. For UHV application bellows are equipped with CF-flanges for using a metal seal.
